Each piece 0f my botanical ceramics is hand-built from rolled slabs of clay, creating a unique form that celebrates the natural properties of the clay and the wildflower impressions within it.
Timeless Quality
Wildflowers and leaves are selected for their unique shapes and textures, pressing them directly into the wet clay to capture the fleeting details of nature.
A cobalt oxide wash is applied to enhance every detail before stoneware firing at 1260 degrees C creating a resilient and enduring work that preserves forever a moment in time.

The Artist
I am Jude Allen and I am a ceramic artist. My work is created entirely by hand from slabs of clay that are rolled out with a traditional wooden rolling pin. During this process I place flowers and leaves, that I have gathered from the fields and hedgerows, onto the flattened clay and gently roll them. Once pressed into the clay I then carefully remove them to leave a detailed botanical impression. I then shape these slabs into a variety of vessels and tiles.
The ephemeral beauty of nature is the source of my inspiration and my work is an attempt to capture these fleeting moments and hold them unchanged forever. Each piece is a celebration of summer days and nature's exquisite architecture resulting in something truly unique and enduring.   Â
